Yes, You Can Wear a Cover-up as a Top!

If you haven’t learned anything from this blog, please take away this one nugget: having a versatile wardrobe is key to building a foundational and functional wardrobe.  Adding classic and essential pieces followed by pieces that you can style in multiple ways increases your wardrobe range.

Cover – ups that we typically associate with going over our swimsuits can totally be worn as a layering piece, top or dress in your everyday wardrobe.  I’ve actually styled the cover-up below and a sheer number as tops and layering pieces before.  I love styling cover-ups in my everyday wardrobe because they are typically super light and airy for the summer heat.

Wear it Unapologetically

I picked up the cover-up below for $7 at Ross (a discount store here in Georgia) and decided to wear it as a layering piece over jeans and a camisole.  This cover-up is so light that I can totally wear it all day or decide to take it off if I wanted to since it is a layering piece.  I can see this cover-up going with shorts or a skirt.  I can also see myself cinching it at the waist to create a poncho perfect for the summer heat.  This fashion steal will totally be in heavy rotation for the rest of summer.

Have you ever styled a cover-up to wear everyday? If so, how did you style it?

What I Wore – Cover-Up: Ross (similar), Jeans: Levi, Camisole: Forever 21, Sandals: Old Navy
