What’s in my Travel Makeup Bag?

I am unapologetically and notoriously known for overpacking.  I have heard plenty of “theories” as to why that may be the case; all of which are not accurate in explaining my particular packing situation.  When people try to tell me about why I pack so much or insinuate that it has something to do with their perceived conclusion that I lack traveling experience, I smile and respond that I like to have my “things” with me, especially my beauty products.  Hell, I’m a beauty blogger…is that really surprising? When it comes to essentials, however, I always make sure that I have certain beauty essentials packed in my makeup bag.  No exceptions.  No questions.  I am not packed until these items are gathered, packed, and in my luggage.

Check out what I pack in my makeup bag below with a brief review/explanation of why they are my traveling beauty essentials!

Do you have certain beauty essentials that you have to pack with you? What’s in your travel makeup bag?

“Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice.” – Stephen Covey

When it comes to my eye makeup when I travel, I always pack a palette that has day and night appropriate colors.  The Naked palette by Urban Decay is tried and true with creating amazing day and night looks with little fuss; a classic for any beauty junky’s collection.  I don’t like fussing too much with my eyebrows other than making sure that they are cleaned up and groomed with Maybelline’s Brow drama gel brush.  I keep my eyes lined with my NYX cream eyeliner pencil in black and my lashes long and full with Covergirl’s The Super Sizer mascara (I almost always pick up a new mascara before I travel).

Although, I love playing with bright and bold colors when it comes to my lips, when I travel I typically opt for neutrals like this Covergirl lippie in Delish and Wet n Wild lip liner in Willow.  This helps to keep my makeup bag a little lighter, otherwise, I would have about half of my lipstick collection traveling with me! My lips are horribly dry in general and especially when I travel, so I make sure that I take my e.l.f. exfoliator and primer/plumper to keep my lips hydrated and juicy.

Makeup_Kit-2To keep my overall makeup routine simple with some lasting power, I make sure that I have my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Revlon Colorstay foundation, NYX concealer, and NYX Matte Finishing Spray for an ultimate, but simple travel-beat.  I carry around my Mary Kay blotting papers to minimize my shiny t-zone.

Just like having, what I call, a style uniform for those times where you need to look pulled together effortlessly, having go-to beauty products when you travel helps you to minimize your forgetting an essential and makes it easier to pack.

  1. Nice post, Venus! I am a makeup junkie…so No, I do not think you can “overpack” when it comes to makeup and beauty. I love your travel essentials. I must jump on the “Naked” band wagon. I like the new palette. I am also a fan of blush. I sometimes double it as a bronzer. Keep up the incredible posts!
