Trend Report: Vampy Lips

Rocking dark lipstick, black lipstick in particular, is not necessarily a new idea or trend.  Over the last couple of years, we have seen dark lipstick rotate in and out of our fall and winter makeup routines.  Fast forward to this past spring, and London fashion week in particular and beyond, we saw an influx of this bold lip on the runways; full of models with black and dark plum lipstick everywhere!

I love this trend and could not wait to get my hands on the darkest shade possible and even black (I got Wet n Wild’s Vamp)! I love how bold and confident this lipstick looks.  In order to rock this trend the right way, be sure to line your lips (can be nude or a dark lip liner to match the lipstick) to prevent the color from ‘bleeding’ on your lips.  If you are not ready to try a full on black lipstick, that’s fine! Try a dark plum or cherry color to lighten up the color slightly.

To bring your vampy, but chic look together fully, keep the rest of your makeup simple with a bold eyebrow and whispy eyelashes.  Check out some of my favorites below.  Ready to rock a vampy lip? Check out my favorites in my store!

  1. Nice post Venus. Yes, vamp lips are daring! My go-to lippie is usually nude or purple. I would definitely use a primer. Thanks for the collage. Keep up the good posts.
