The thrift store can be a great place to find some unique and traditional pieces to add to your wardrobe. I especially love dress and skirt shopping at the thrift store; I’ve found some of my favorite and unique dresses and skirts there.
Not only can the dresses and skirts be unique, you can usually be more forgiving with the sizes of the skirt or dress. Is the dress that you fell in love with slightly bigger than normal? No worries! Belt it or go for an oversized look. It works. If the dress is meant to be fitted, go get it tailored! The amount that you spent on the dress added to the amount that you’ll spend on tailoring, depending on the piece, would still not break the bank and may be cheaper than what the original piece cost. I’ve gotten dresses for $4…I mean you can’t beat that.
How to Wear It
I picked up this black and white dress from Goodwill several weeks ago. I immediately knew how I would wear it and loved how versatile and season-less it could be. I decided to make it more casual by pairing it with my gladiator sandals and fringe bag. In the future I can see layering it with a leather jacket and tights for the fall – I mean, y’all see where I’m going. For $4, I am going to get some incredible wear out of this dress!
