Over the years, drugstore foundation has up their game to compete with some of their more expensive department store cousins. We are talking about drugstore foundations offering a variety of textures (matte, dewey), a variety and wide range of color tones, and foundations that are enhanced to help with problematic skin. With that being said, you can certainly get a great foundation that won’t break the bank.
Several years ago, I was a M.A.C. foundation girl and while I still love M.A.C. foundations, I am in love with some of my recent drugstore foundation finds. So much so that I haven’t bought any foundations from M.A.C. or any other high-end brands recently. Now, that doesn’t mean that I haven’t had my eye on other high-end brands, come on, I’m a beauty blogger! But, I haven’t been disappointed with my everyday drugstore foundations to turn them in for a more expensive variety.
Below are my top three that I KEEP in rotation that when I am wearing makeup, 9 times out of 10 I am wearing one of them. Get into them!
Revlon Colorstay – A holygrail vanity staple. This jewel has GREAT and BUILDABLE coverage. The color range options are amazing and Revlon also offers specific formulas for combination/oily skin and for normal/dry skin. AND Revlon has listened to the people and added a pump to the packaging. Yas! I love mixing this foundation with my moisturizer to create a tinted moisturizer – perfect consistency for it!
L’Oreal Pro-Matte – My newest obsession and vanity mainstay. I love the texture of this foundation and I love how matte it stays ALL DAY. I rarely have to worry about the embarrassing oil blotches that pop up throughout the day when wearing other foundations. Also, it’s lightweight and the coverage is buildable. I would not recommend this foundation if you have dry skin.
L’Oreal Pro – Glow – Pro-Matte’s glowing sister, this foundation gives you just the right amount of glow to make you look naturally radiant. It is lightweight and the coverage is buildable. I love the way that this foundation goes on: it is smooth and just looks fabulous on my skin. If you have oily skin, I would not recommend this foundation for you. If you have combination skin, like me, you will have to touch up your T-Zone periodically throughout the day.
