Holiday Style: Stand Out At Your Next Party (and a special request)

It’s that time of the year where holiday parties and gatherings are so common that you have to plot out your schedule on a calendar. Most weekends will be full of these parties and gatherings of friends and family. In fact, how’s your holiday season going so far? Of course, if you’re not doing a themed holiday party or gathering, style is as important for your gathering as the food, drink and gifts you may be bringing.

One of the things that I have gotten a bit jaded by when it comes to holiday style and even holiday decorations is the typical holiday colors of red and green. I typically stray away from red and I definitely stray away from green (#goblue #allday). The most red that you’ll see me rock during this time of the year is a red lip or red manicure and pedicure. Of course, nothing is wrong with those of you who adore the red and green color combo during this time of year. Do you. Boo.

I’m more of a fan of metallics during this time of year and more specifically gold and silver with a backdrop of white and accents of black. There is something so modern and glamorous about combining gold, silver, white, and black that I absolutely love. Another reason why I love this color combo specifically for the holidays is the versatility of the colors. And because those colors aren’t tied to a specific holiday or really any occasion, whatever you end up getting you’ll be able to style it for different occasions for seasons to come.

Wear it Unapologetically

You all know that I love me some Melange Mode. I’ve featured her items here on several occasions. For my holiday inspired outfit, I decided to pair Melange Mode’s Camille Midi Skirt with my over the knee heeled boots, lace shirt and topped it with a leather jacket. This look has so many good elements for the holidays from the gold and black color, to the lace detailing in the shirt. I added my favorite gold cuffs and bold gold hoops for more metallic flair.

Style Tip: Wear a white top to break up the gold and black color pattern. A button up or a blouse with cut outs to make it a bit more playful and airy.

What I wore – Skirt: Melange Mode, Shirt: Forever 21 (inspired), Boots: JustFab (similar), Jacket: Arden B (similar)

Donations Requested: The beautiful designer, creator, and owner of Melange Mode, Yvonne, is starting her treatment for Lymphoma. Her family is asking for our support in helping to cover Yvonne’s medical expenses. It’s been great getting to know Yvonne over the last year and some change…she is an incredible entrepreneur and has such a great spirit. Any amount that you can contribute is greatly appreciated.
