Beauty Maintenance: Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant

I love my coffee and unfortunately, I love Diet Coke, both of which are horrible for keeping a bright white smile.  When I was younger I didn’t notice any major effects of drinking coffee and Diet Coke on the look of my teeth – I’ve always had a pretty white smile.  Recently, however, I’ve increased my drinking of coffee and Diet Coke, which has started to show a bit on my teeth.  No.  My teeth aren’t horribly stained, but they aren’t as bright as they once were and it’s pretty noticeable to me.

So in comes Smile Brilliant.  Now there’s a ton of whitening systems out there with different claims and set ups.  Some of them are scary though – you know the ones.  The ones with the lights that you hold in your mouth for however long – I’m not too sure about that one.  Then there’s the ones that seem a bit more fuss free and simple, like Smile Brilliant.

Smile Brilliant is a dentist recommended at-home whitening system that uses custom-fitted whitening trays shipped right to your home for about 70% cheaper than what you could get by visiting your dentist office.

I’ve started using this whitening system for the last two weeks and it has been pretty good so far.  I’ll be documenting my teeth whitening journey on my Instagram accounts and a final follow up post here after using Smile Brilliant for another week. So, be sure to follow me on Instagram and of course stay tuned here for updates.

How does it work?

The first step on your teeth whitening journey with Smile Brilliant is to get your custom fitted whitening trays made.  Smile Brilliant will send you a kit (there are three different kits available depending on your needs) that has everything that you need to create your trays: Molding clay and instructions.  Making the molds was actually fairly fun to me (yes, I’m a bit of a geek)! After making my molds (took about 30 minutes) I sealed them in a pre-paid envelope and shipped them to the Smile Brilliant team to create my trays.

Within a week, I received my trays and was ready to start the whitening process. In your kit (amounts vary on the type of kit that you get), you get several whitening and desensitizing gels.  You’ll want to start with clean teeth and with your whitening gel.  Put a thin strip of your whitening gel at the front of your trays and place your trays. You can keep your trays in up to 3hrs, but it’s recommended that you start with 45 minutes and go longer after that.  I whiten for about 1.5hrs and then rinse my trays to put the desensitizing gel on the trays to keep in for another 20 – 30 minutes.

How’s it going so far? Does it seem to work?

So, far I’ve done every other day and have noticed some significant results! I’m going to whiten in this way for another week and will let you all know the final verdict next Friday. Stay tuned!

If you are interested in trying Smile Brilliant for yourself I have a 5% code that you can use here on your kit: pinkklipstick5.  Of course, let me know what you all think once you try it or if you’ve tried it before.

Here are some before shots.  Stay tuned to after shots! (Please excuse my super awkward and fake smile trying to show y’all my teeth!)
